The Board
John Hossack – President
John has been actively creating his own destiny in the world of business for over a decade. From his early entrepreneurial days as a student, through his rapid rise from Junior Currency Trader to Treasury Manager with Canada’s largest foreign exchange brokerage firm, John has never been one to accept the status quo. Always in search of new and greater challenges, John joined VKI Studios in 2001 to help the firm expand its client base geographically, and diversify its service offerings. John holds a B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Victoria, as well as an M.B.A. from the Australian Graduate School of Management, where he specialized in Finance and Technology.
James Richardson – Vice President / Marketing
James fills two roles at IIMA – Vice-President and Director of Marketing. James leads marketing for IIMA with specific emphasis on the development of the associations web publishing and email marketing platforms.
Outside of IIMA, James Richardson holds the role of Director of Operations for Engine Digital, a digital creative agency. James joined the firm in 2007 and oversees agency operations, strategy and finance, In addition to his operations role, James provides input in the crafting of strategic planning and performance management objectives with client campaigns and agency initiatives.
For 14 years, James has worked with companies to provide insight into the strategies and tactics that drive success across the digital marketing mix. He has developed digital and promotional campaigns for a wide array of brands including PACCAR, Carnival Cruise Lines, Intrawest, Peterbilt, Autotrader, TELUS, BC Hydro and Swiss Water .
James holds a B.A. in Communications from Simon Fraser University and lives in Steveston with his wife Rhonda and daughter Caitlin.
Ean Jackson – Director of Events
As Events Chair, Ean is responsible for making sure that all IIMA events live up to the promise of showcasing “the best in Internet marketing”. He works with the IIMA board to determine the topics that will be covered, then identifies speakers and manages all of the details of our monthly meetings.
Ean has been a passionate advocate of the Internet since completing an MS in Telecommunications Management program during the Arpanet days. He helped launch Canada’s first ISPs (Internet Service Providers), worked with dozens of startups during the dot-com days and is now deeply interested in SaaS (software as a Service) and the mobile internet. Since taking one first UBC Internet Marketing certificates, Ean started up an online marketing venture and has taught Internet Marketing in the MBA programs at UBC and the University of Phoenix.
When not working on IIMA events, Ean helps growing technology companies generate new business revenues. He also teaches New Venture Planning at Simon Fraser University and helps manage a social network for active people called Club Fat Ass.

Steve Deller – President Emeritus
Steve currently operates a number of internet based properties and is involved with overseas manufacturing, importing and distribution. Having co-founded Western Canada’s first mail-order corporate pharmacy in 1992, he proceeded to manage a $4.2M business with 30 employees in British Columbia, Manitoba, and Ontario.
His hands-on experience has left him a veteran of business startup management. Deller has advised dozens of entrepreneurs and owner operators in launching their businesses while acting as a management consultant for the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) and an HRDC SEP program advisor. His earlier experiences included the positions of Regional Advisor at Statistics Canada, Consultant at Supply and Services Canada, IDRC, and a Market Research Analyst at the International Division of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
He holds a B.A. & B.Ed. from the University of Western Ontario and a Masters degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Mr. Deller completed his 1999 Internet Marketing Certificate at the University of British Columbia.
Serena Hillman – Director of Search Marketing
Serena is an original Vancouverite and avid tech enthusiast, specializing in web marketing and all things internet. She currently is employed as the Director of Marketing for ShowTimeTickets.com, an e-commerce website based in Vancouver. In the past she has worked at several Internet marketing firms in number of cities in the US and Canada.
She currently holds both B.A. and M.Sc. degrees in Interactive Communications from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT and is currently pursuing further graduate studies at SFU’s School of Interactive Arts and Technology.
In her downtime you can find her playing hockey at Burnaby 8 Rinks.
Mehrtash Fazaeli – Director of Sponsorship
Mehrtash Fazaeli is a marketing consultant and an entrepreneur with a background in engineering, web and media arts, currently working at Distige Radical Marketing. Since 1997 he has consulted for businesses, small to fortune 500 across various industries and continents to launch successful print and direct marketing campaigns. In 2003 he took further interest in business development and helped shape 3 start-ups in print supply, online video marketing and a print brokerage. In his current role as the director of business development at Distige Radical Marketing, Mehrtash oversees the development of the agency’s strategy, products, business acquisition and partnerships. Mehrtash currently lives in Vancouver and serves on the board of International Internet Marketing Association as the director of sponsorship. In his spare time he enjoys skiing, playing tennis, and reading up on the Vancouver fine coffee scene.
James Carter – Director of Social Media
As CEO and Founder of Path Marketing, Mr Carter has been helping high growth B2B companies to develop reliable, repeatable inbound lead generation strategies for 10 years. Starting as an expert trainer with CRM systems such as ACT! and Saleforce.com, the business has grown to include online lead generation campaigns for customers all over North America. Mr. Carter has worked closely with some of North America’s fastest growing companies to boost inbound leads and align sales process to drive results. Customers include Armtec, Boston Pizza, Prime Restaurants, Cellcom and many others.
One of his biggest achievements was at the helm of RealtorPro Software, guiding the company to the #2 position in that market in just under 24 months on a single marketing platform – Google AdWords. Mr. Carter is a salesforce.com business partner, ACT! certified consultant and a Google AdWords Qualified Individual. He is a regular contributor to the B2B Lead Generation Strategies blog at www.pathmarketing.com and is a the Director of Online Communities for the International Internet Marketing Association. He lives in Vancouver, Canada with his wife, Christine.
Ingeborg Carr – Director of Affiliate Marketing
Ingeborg is a results-driven and innovative marketing executive with a can-do attitude and twenty years of international experience in online and off-line marketing, branding and customer experience. She has an entrepreneurial mindset, knows how to make an impact and reach objectives on a limited budget.
Her extensive marketing experience is complimented by nine years of online marketing, e-commerce as well as two years of hands-on SaaS development.
She enjoys bringing the company to the next level and driving market expansion. A key asset in driving market expansion is her knack to identify upcoming trends in new markets before a wave is created and ridden by the competition. This trend spotting ability is a rare talent and an essential prerequisite for any executive who is responsible for not only company management but for growing the business beyond its current boundary.
Charity Robertson – Director of Communications
Charity is a marketing, advertising and human relations professional with a background in the music and entertainment industries. After starting out in Human Relations at Sony Pictures in L.A., she made the move to Vancouver to work with EMI Music Canada. Across her 8 year career, Charity has also marketed waterslides and children’s playground equipment globally and building materials across North America.
Holding a BA in Psychology and Asian Pacific American Studies, and a Certificate in Human Resources Management from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, Charity most recently earned an Award of Achievement in Web Analytics from the University of British Columbia.
While not creating marketing strategies or studying, Charity can be found chasing the sun to the nearest beach. Charity is currently residing in Yucca Valley, California.
